Man charged over attacks on women

A 28-year-old man was tonight charged with attempting to murder two women in Belfast.

The women were stabbed, one of them 13 times, near the centre of the city in the early hours of this morning.

Police officers found the badly wounded pair in an entry close to a bar off High Street.

One had been stabbed in the back, and the second was stabbed repeatedly about the body.

Police Inspector Tom Haylett said: ‘‘It was unprovoked violence without provocation.’’
