Daniel Teegan’s claim that justice for the Palestinian people can only be achieved by the ending of Israel as a Jewish nation is not merely without empirical foundation. It also, despite his insistence, meets the EU’s definition of anti-Semitism (Irish Examiner, Letters, 4 July).

It cannot be possible Daniel Teegan (Letters, July 4) believes that a one state solution in the Middle East was ever or will ever be possible. 

Daniel Teegan’s brief account of the birth of Israel is, at best, blinkered, biased and incomplete.

Daniel Teegan (Irish Examiner, Letters 25/6/15) distorts the reality of Israel, saying it is a continuation of Western colonialism in the Middle East.

Daniel Teegan is ignorant of history (Irish Examiner, Letters, June 25). He bemoans the creation of Israel, in 1948, on the basis that the Palestinians lived there for thousands of years.

The image conjured by Daniel Teegan (25 June), of emaciated Holocaust survivors arriving in post-WW2 Palestine – their only available refuge, into which they had to be smuggled in the face of severe British-imposed entry restrictions – as representatives of “European colonialism” would be laughable if it did not embrace so much tragedy.

Daniel Teegan claims that the “10m” (in reality circa 6 million) Israeli Jews are not “ancestors of” (read: descended from) “a biblical race of people”. 

Daniel Teegan’s account of his conversation with an ex-Israeli soldier (Letters, December 17), depicts the IDF as a rogue force operating outside the norms of international law. 

Claims and counterclaims have been made over whether the Port of Cork breached planning regulations by developing part of its terminal at Ringaskiddy after it was refused permission in 2008 to expand facilities there.

THE economic infrastructure of the future state of Palestine is based on three pillars: human resources, tourism and agriculture.

I AM writing to you following the publication of Mr Teegan’s letter (January 17) and Ambassador Modai’s response (January 20).

I WAS astonished to read the letter of January 17 by Daniel Teegan concerning Israel and the Palestinians. Unfortunately, it reproduced many tired clichés, characteristic of those who seek to demonise the State of Israel.

IF you live in, or visit, Union Hall, you’ll be connected to the sea. Swimming, diving, whale-watching, sailing, motor-boating, canoeing, exploring, angling – or just eating things from its ocean bounty, this is a place that relishes and rejoices in its seaside setting.

A NEW €226 million container terminal in Co Cork could affect the economic viability of ports in Waterford and Dublin, and result in traffic gridlock and more deaths on the roads.

I DO not know what Mr Teegan’s career path is, but he has missed his vocation as a teller of fairy tales (Irish Examiner letters, May 15).
