INDONESIA’S Anak Krakatau volcano lets out a roar as it blasts a gigantic cloud of smoke and flaming red rocks hundreds of metres into the night sky.

One of Indonesia’s deadliest volcanos began erupting today, but there was no visual confirmation of activity because the peak was cloaked in dense fog, a senior government volcanologist said.

Thousands of people were evacuated from the slopes of a volcano in eastern Indonesia after it spewed hot clouds of smoke, ash and rocks for a second day.
