Gardai in Tullamore are appealing for witnesses after a Polish man in his 30's was stabbed to death at a house on Kilbride St. at around 7 o'clock this morning.

A 32-year-old solicitor and football mentor who punched a teenage player in the face in an unprovoked assault has been given a three-month suspended jail sentence.

A teenage boy appeared in court today in connection with the stabbing of a garda in Westport in Co. Mayo, in the early hours of Sunday morning last.
