SOME patients are having to wait up two years for heart examinations at Tallaght Hospital in Dublin because of staff shortages and cutbacks.

OVER the next year more than four million Europeans will die from heart disease — and most of it could be prevented, an Irish cardiologist has told the European Parliament.

Economic expansion in the North will be held back unless urgent action is taken to solve a skills shortage, business bosses warned the Assembly today.
