SOME patients are having to wait up two years for heart examinations at Tallaght Hospital in Dublin because of staff shortages and cutbacks.

The situation in the hospital’s cardiology department has meant that patients are having to be prioritised according to urgency for heart ultra-sound tests.

Despite the lifting of a recruitment ban staffing has not improved.
