Australian jockey Hugh Bowman landed his most important success on his latest visit to Britain when guiding home Mick Channon's stable stalwart Halicarnassus in the bet365 Old Newton Cup at Haydock today.

Mick Channon was left ruing his decision not to enter Halicarnassus in the Vodafone Derby after the colt lowered the colours of Eastern Anthem in the Peters Opal Stakes at Goodwood.
