A Louth man accused of sexually attacking two women after offering them lifts home said he wanted to apologise to them for “a drunken mistake”, his trial has heard.

A serial sex offender has been jailed for six years which he is to serve consecutive to a current six-year rape sentence after he was described by Judge Frank O'Donnell as a "walking menace to every female out there" .

A serial sex offender described by gardaí as "a danger to women" and is currently serving a prison term has had his sentence for the sexual assault of a young Japanese woman adjourned at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
