TD John McGuinness has claimed that the former garda commissioner told him in Leinster House that Sergeant Maurice McCabe “fiddled” with children and garda whistleblowers were “fucking headbangers”.

When interviewed on Saturday with Claire Byrne, on RTE 1 on May 10 Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte, stated: "Sgt Maurice Mc Cabe came to him first in 2008 to whistleblow" and "he did not know that Sgt. Mc Cabe was writing to the Minister for Justice. Mr Alan Shatter".

When you take away all the extraneous comments, etc, on the garda whistleblowers saga, it boils down to two serving members of the Garda Síochána decided it was time to ‘disclose’ the wrongdoings of the penalty points (and other very serious issues) system.
