Philip Rothwell enjoyed an excellent afternoon at a very wet Down Royal yesterday, with Mark Me Up’s triumph in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Chase initiating a 53-1 double on the afternoon for the trainer.

Yesterday’s United Hunt Club’s point-to-point fixture at Bartlemy brought new meaning to the phrase marathon for there were no less than 11 races with proceedings concluding at 6.15pm, following a 1pm start.
