Derek O’Connor consolidated his advantage at the head of the point-to-point riders’ table by partnering a three-timer at yesterday’s well-attended Carbery Hunt point-to-point meeting at Bandon.

In his reply to my letter, Derek O’Flynn of the Israeli Embassy ( Letters, November 6) inadvertently admits to the Apartheid system that exists in the West Bank, when he argues that the water Israel allows to them is two thirds that available to Israeli settlers.

Derek O’Flynn, press officer of the Israeli Embassy in Dublin (Letters, July 15) seemed a little confused as to the meaning of solidarity with Palestine, which of course goes back to the original ethnic cleansing, Al Nakba, carried out by what became the state of Israel, in 1948.

Derek O’Connor showed just why he has won ten point-to-point riders’ championships by bringing the well-supported Ronnie O’Leary-trained newcomer Baden from well off the pace to oblige in a vintage second division of the four-year-old maiden at yesterday’s United Hunt Club point-to-point fixture at Bartlemy.

On reading the recent letter by Derek O’Flynn of the Israeli embassy staff, I am reminded of the fact that Israel is a state self-declared for Jews only.
