Derek O’Connor consolidates lead with treble

Derek O’Connor consolidated his advantage at the head of the point-to-point riders’ table by partnering a three-timer at yesterday’s well-attended Carbery Hunt point-to-point meeting at Bandon.

Ground conditions were quite testing and the Galwegian’s initial two winners were both supplied by Robert Tyner with the pair opening their account courtesy of the grey Ruairis Cloud (4/7) in the adjacent hunts maiden.

This month’s Tallow runner-up Ruairis Cloud led or disputed the running and the sweet-jumping seven-year-old went on before the second last en-route to defeating Dalus King by a comprehensive nine lengths.
