Champions Sarsfields made a winning start to the defence of their Galway SHC title when they beat 2013 All-Ireland winners St Thomas’, 1-18 to 1-15 at Kenny Park in Athenry.

AIB All-Ireland Club IHC final - Bennettsbridge (Kilkenny) 1-17 Abbeyknockmoy (Galway) 1-14: In the end, it all came down to a gust of wind. With 56 minutes on the clock at Croke Park, Sean Morrissey struck a point attempt from out on the right wing that dipped violently and flew to the Abbeyknockmoy net.

CRAIG KENNEDY powered his Athenry VS to the Connacht Vocational Schools SAFC title in Garrymore. Kennedy hit 1-3 and was their chief creator, setting up their first goal after 21 minutes as Dylan Murphy finished to the net (1-2 to 0-2).
