This year’s Men’s Open Singles field at the World Handball Championships is so strong that it will be a case of kill or be killed, believes Team Ireland captain Martin Mulkerrins.

Limerick hurler Richie McCarthy, Kerry footballer James O’Donoghue and Clare boss Davy Fitzgerald have scooped the top accolades at this year’s Munster GAA awards.

While it was a year ultimately ending in defeat by Cork at the All-Ireland semi-final stage, 2013 was one of progress for Kerry ladies footballers.

As expected, Limerick’s Ardscoil Rís booked their spot in the Dr Harty Cup quarter-finals as they saw off St Flannan’s, Ennis on a 2-24 to 1-10 scoreline at Sixmilebridge yesterday.
