IRISH Bank Resolution Corporation is to bring forward proceedings on Monday aimed at having Sean Quinn declared bankrupt in the Republic.

Irish Bank Resolution Corporation has secured a High Court order allowing it to bring forward proceedings aimed at having businessman Sean Quinn declared bankrupt in the Republic of Ireland.

A Co Wicklow woman, who alleges she has been defamed in a “cyber tort” by The Washington Post Company, was today granted leave of the High Court to serve a claim for damages in the USA.

THE High Court has been told that Sean Quinn had been refusing to open the locked gates of his home in Co Cavan to personally accept service of a summons issued to have him declared bankrupt in the Republic.

The State-owned Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC and formerly Anglo Irish Bank) today took the first legal step in the High Court in Dublin to have Sean Quinn declared a bankrupt in the Republic.
