A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged racist attack on Manchester City and England forward Raheem Sterling, police have announced.

Greater Manchester Police are investigating an incident of alleged racially aggravated assault on Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling at the weekend.

People are using the EU referendum result as a “mere sham for their hatred to be expressed”, said the Archbishop of Canterbury amid fears of a rise in the number of hate-related incidents in wake of the vote.
