HAVING heard radio interviews and read your feature article (May 9), I am blown away by the Spirit of Ireland wind energy proposal.

TO great media fanfare, a group called Spirit of Ireland recently launched its proposal for wind energy in Ireland along the lines suggested by Prof Igor Shvets last December.

IN THESE desperate times any group that suggests that it could create thousands of jobs, slash our energy imports by €30 billion over a decade, slash our carbon footprint and create the potential to earn €50bn in energy exports over 10 years runs the risk of being accused of dangerous flights of fancy.

AN energy project could make Ireland energy independent within five years and see us exporting energy in a decade.
