GLENEAGLE Lakers dragged themselves back from a mid-season crisis to claim second place in the ESB SuperLeague and earn a home draw against Hibernian UCD Marian in next week’s play-offs.

A MONTH into the ESB Superleague few would have predicted BurgerKing Limerick and Gleneagle Lakers would be fighting out the most important game of the season on the last weekend of the competition.

Dart Killester came back from a 20-point deficit earlier this week to defeat MDS Star 79-72, but face another tough challenge when they travel to Neptune this weekend.

Gleneagle Lakers recorded their first Cup victory in seven years, putting in a huge performance to defeat Shamrock Rovers 103-77 and booking their place in the quarter-finals round.
