Cork City will begin the defence of their SSE Airtricity League Premier Division title with an away game against St Patrick’s Athletic at Richmond Park on Friday, February 16.

A family has condemned the behaviour of some Shamrock Rovers fans who they say left a mourner at their mother’s wake with a broken nose following an unprovoked assault.

Pat Hoban scored twice as Dundalk maintained their fine form to beat Shamrock Rovers 3-1 at Oriel Park to move to within a point of leaders St. Patrick's Athletic at the top of the Premier Division table.

Shamrock Rover’s focus will return to the league title race when the Hoops travel to Oriel Park to take on Dundalk at 5.30pm today.
