The Pharmaceutical Union has urged all pharmacists to continue dispensing medication as normal today.

The head of the Health Service Executive Brendan Drumm has said he is confident that pharmacists will continue to supply medication under the community drugs scheme.

IN your editorial titled “Contraceptive sales: Pharmacists’ attitudes add to problems” (Irish Examiner, July 27) you deplore the fact that some pharmacists refuse to sell contraceptives or the morning-after pill because they disapprove of their use.

The Irish Pharmaceutical Union has rejected claims made in a Sunday newspaper today that pharmacists in Ireland earned one billion euros from the Government last year for dispensing medicines.
