The Irish Pharmaceutical Union has rejected claims made in a Sunday newspaper today that pharmacists in Ireland earned one billion euros from the Government last year for dispensing medicines.

The Irish Pharmaceutical Union has rejected claims made in a Sunday newspaper today that pharmacists in Ireland earned one billion euros from the Government last year for dispensing medicines.

The Vice President of the IPU, Michael Guckian, said that they are earning significantly less than that figure.

The average payment to pharmacies was €186,000, but that also had to cover staff salaries and other overheads, he said.
