WORKERS at the Glanbia pig meat processing plant in Edenderry, Co Offaly, which was destroyed by fire, have backed a company contingency plan that guarantees them employment.

All 280 staff at Glanbia Meats have been offered alternative employment, the company said tonight.

A NET loss of 190 jobs is to result from a decision by Glanbia Meats not to re-build a fire-gutted pig-meat processing plant in Roosky, Co Roscommon.
