A wave of nostalgia for the Irish kids’ TV of yore greeted the news that RTÉ will outsource all its TV programming for young people to independent production companies. 

The Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood is doubling up on his penguin love - as well as providing his voice for animated movie Happy Feet, the actor will narrate new nature documentary Saving a Species for the Discovery Kids network.
