Wall Street closed an erratic session mixed today after an uneven batch of earnings reports made investors more cautious about buying stocks.

Wall Street rallied today after better-than-expected quarterly results from JPMorgan Chase and two other Dow Jones industrials raised investors' hopes that companies and the economy are indeed recovering from the protracted global credit crisis.

Wall Street skidded further today, sending the Dow Jones industrials back below 10,000 as disappointments from Microsoft and Amazon deepened investors’ dread of a second-half earnings slump.

Coca-Cola Co, the world’s largest soft-drink maker, said first-quarter earnings climbed 35%, because of higher sales of Powerade sports drinks and Dasani bottled water.

Coca-Cola Co has confirmed it is withdrawing its Dasani brand of bottled water from the UK from today, a spokeswoman in London said.

Coca-Cola Co is to buy Swiss mineral water bottler Valser Mineralquellen AG, the company said in a joint statement.

Shares of Coca-Cola Co moved sharply higher in late morning trade after the company affirmed its 2001 and 2002 earnings outlook and said it expects worldwide unit case volumes to grow 4-5% in the fourth quarter, in line with its previous estimates, dealers said.
