Tens of thousands of airline passengers were today facing delays after the UK’s air traffic control system crashed.

The British national air traffic control computer system crashed at 6am today and flights were being operated manually by air traffic controllers, British Airways said.

Aer Rianta has reported delays on all flights between Ireland and Britain this morning due to a computer hitch at the British air traffic control centre.
