Computer hitch delays flights to and from Britain
Aer Rianta has reported delays on all flights between Ireland and Britain this morning due to a computer hitch at the British air traffic control centre.
The computer system at the control centre in Hampshire crashed at around 6am, forcing controllers to switch to manual operations.
The centre controls all flights in and out of London, but media reports in Britain said flights throughout England and Wales were grounded by this morning’s hitch.
National Air Traffic Services, the company that operates the air traffic control system, said it was investigating the matter.
