Right wing Patrick Brophy was the spark behind St Michael’s College’s 8-3 victory over Gonzaga College, with the only try of the game on half-time, in the Leinster Schools Section C Junior Cup first round at Anglesea Road on Tuesday.

Belvedere College and Blackrock College, the pre-competition favourites, fought out an exciting 5-5 draw in the Leinster Schools Section C Junior Cup semi-final at Donnybrook on Thursday.

Castleknock College, last year's runners-up, improved out of all recognition, as the game wore on, to put six tries past a valiant St Gerard's School in a 38-13 win in the quarter-final of the Leinster Schools Section C Junior Cup at Donnybrook.
