A national strike to demand higher pay has paralysed airports, sea ports and rail traffic in Belgium, while hundreds of factories are shut down for the day.

Authorities reopened a busy terminal at Brussels’ Zaventem International Airport today after a man who was behaving suspiciously had fled into the zone.
