Irish singer-songwriter Niall Horan joined Gordon Ramsay to cook up a storm in the kitchen and an Irish fry-up was on the menu.
Joining Ramsay on his chat series, Horan spoke about what breakfast looked like in his home growing up in Ireland, his very first audition, his success with One Direction, his move to LA and his musical career to date.
It was Horan’s love for the simple things in life – such as Clonakilty sausages – that had him reminiscing.
Speaking about how sausages elsewhere differ from Irish sausages, Horan said: “In this country, there’s a lot of seasoning in the sausages… Since I’ve moved to this country, it’s something that I’ve always latched onto… Irish teabags or Clonakilty sausages from Cork.”
Repeating Horan, Ramsay struggled to say ‘Clonakilty’, butchering the pronunciation twice before Horan responds, “Something like that.”
“They’re just lovely, and they’re just something I grew up on and we’re very passionate about a few things in our lovely little country,” Horan continued.
He described how difficult it is to get a good sausage in LA and spoke about the breakfast he would have grown up.
“Simple.. bacon, egg, sausage and potato cake if he was at his granny’s house,” he said.
The pair spoke about Horan’s career, including how it all kicked off on with Horan praising a former teacher for encouraging him, which he spoke about with Tommy Tiernan during his appearance on back in April.
He looked back at forming One Direction alongside Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne, the band’s success, and breaking America.
Horan also touched on his solo singing career to date, his new album and tour, which kicks off this September.
Horan and Ramsay also recounted their infamous first run-in together in Las Vegas back in 2012.
Serving up breakfast for dinner with a “proper Irish twist”, the pair plated up fresh eggs, Clonakilty sausages, white pudding, and, because it wouldn’t be a recipe with Horan without a bit of potato, authentic Irish potato farls made from scratch.
- Niall Horan’s new album Dinner Party will be released on Friday, June 5. His UK, Ireland, and European Dinner Party tour kicks off in Birmingham on September 22, and includes four dates in Dublin in November. Horan will take the tour to the US in early 2027.
