Why do we do this to ourselves? We stare at our phones, letting the success stories of others leak into our brains until we feel like lumps of dough that someone forgot to shove in the oven. 

One random Instagram post—someone flaunting their abs, showing off their new Lamborghini, or worse, their new puppy's Lamborghini—can convince us we're utter failures. I'm not immune, but are we simply gluttons for punishment, or are we biologically wired to compare ourselves? Let's roll the tape back to the Stone Age.
