There are only so many brilliant minors that can make a senior team

I have a friend. He coached a particularly strong player. The player was captain of the Feile team. He was later a county minor. 

After minor, he took a break. He started a BComm. He was to get back in the New Year with the Intermediates who would be trained by my friend (and his old coach) as a form of ‘adult development squad’.
