Dr Phil Kieran: My GP is reluctant to prescribe antibiotics

My GP is slow to prescribe an antibiotic when I bring my children to see him. I understand it’s unnecessary for a viral infection, but I worry it could develop into a bacterial infection. Would it be better to give the antibiotic before things get worse?

Antibiotics are amazing, lifesaving, readily available and, unfortunately, potentially dangerous medications that should be treated with respect.
