Working from home: how to be out of the office, but not out of the loop

Employees should know that working at home is not permission to work from anywhere. Conversely, they have all the rights of office-based staff

LAST month, a worker who was let go for violating her employer’s remote-working policy took her case to the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC).

The Dublin-based Interactive Brokers Ireland Ltd accused Maite Gutierrez Fenoll of breaking the terms of its policy by logging in from Spain, while she argued she believed the company had a relaxed approach to remote working.
