Vogue Williams: I'm not a huge drinker so that makes me quite healthy

Vogue Williams' favourite place is Howth, Co Dublin

Vogue Williams doesn’t hesitate when I ask where her favourite place in the world is.

“I’ll give you one guess,” she says, alluding to her native Howth in Co Dublin. As it turns out, she’s heading straight to the airport when our call ends to fly over.

Along with returning to the seaside town, the Irish media personality has important work to attend to.

For a second year in a row, Vogue is backing Heinz and Baranardos to help vulnerable families in Ireland and to encourage family connections over the dinner table.

She is also committing to disconnecting from screens to be with her three young children and husband Spencer at mealtimes, as she can be a bit "obsessed" with her phone.

“I loved the idea behind the campaign because it’s about having meals with your kids and sitting down and just connecting properly with your family.”

For every three-pack of Heinz Meanz Mealz Beanz sold, the company will donate to Barnardos Breakfast Clubs.

How do you keep fit?

Running and my Flexy Fit app.

Do you have a morning routine?

Up before seven, if I’m lucky, and then breakfast with the kids. I always walk them to school when I'm home. It's like an hour-long trip. It's honestly one of my favourite things to do.

What is one thing you do every day?

Mention how tired I am.

What are your healthiest eating habits?

Because I'm not a huge drinker, that makes me quite healthy.

What are your guiltiest pleasures?

I try to be as healthy as I can. However, I have a real sweet tooth, but not for nice things like Victoria sponge cakes. I like sweets like Stinger bars, marshmallows, and flumps.

What keeps you awake at night?

I get sleep anxiety, where I’m like, “Oh God, am I going to get enough sleep?” Just thinking about it makes it worse for me. I really just should stop. I did it to myself last night. I started worrying about something I didn't need to worry about, so I had a terrible night's sleep.

How do you relax?

I absolutely love reading. It's great for anxious people and is like my meditation.

What’s your dream meal?

Spencer’s mom’s roast.

What is your favourite smell?

I love men’s fragrances - Chanel Bleu, Tom Ford, Santal, Another 13.

When was the last time you cried?

About three days ago. [My youngest] Otto woke me up super early, at half-five. Then my dog had a sick tummy. It was everywhere. He even snuck into the kids' room and did it there. I was crying for half an hour while cleaning. I had to get a carpet cleaner over as well because he annihilated the place.

What is the best health advice you've ever been given?

I’m an SPF 50 person, but I still get really tanned. I always wear SPF everywhere.

What traits do you least like in others?

Loyalty is a big thing for me. I cannot bear dishonesty. If you lie to me, you're written off a bit. I need to be able to trust somebody.

What traits do you least like about yourself?

I hate that I tend to get anxious sometimes. It’s just really annoying.

Do you pray?

Sometimes to St Anthony, if I’m looking for something.

What cheers you up if you’re having a bad day?

My kids and my family.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?

Tina Turner, I love her. Eminem. I’d probably invite Snoop [Dogg] as well after seeing him at the Olympics. He just seems so much fun. I’m obsessed with rap and grind music so I’d love to have all my favourite rappers over.

Has climate change impacted how you live your life?

I’m very particular about recycling. I try not to drive as much, certainly in London. I always recycle my clothes, either by selling them off for charity or giving them to friends. I have a fascination with clothes, so it’s always good to repurpose them.

What quote inspires you most and why?

What’s for you won’t pass you. I've been in this industry since I was 16, and it’s very important to know that if you don’t get a job, it just isn’t meant for you. You will get something else.

What’s something nobody knows about you?

I don’t think a lot of people know that I have two degrees in construction.

Hopes for the rest of 2024

To keep enjoying lots of great times with my friends and family and stay in good health.

Celebrating 25 years of health and wellbeing
