Annmarie O'Connor: 10 new summer finds I'm coveting right now
Annmarie O'Connor shares her fashion picks of the season
It’s sale season and I’m in the mood for something new. A tough brief, I’m sure you’ll agree, given my mantra of only buying what suits my needs. Like a truffle pig, however, I can sniff out a fresh find in a hot minute—10 to be precise. Colourful, practical and pre-fall: here’s what I found.
As someone who walks everywhere, comfy shoes are imperative. I’m a big fan of sustainable brand, Alohas whose latest ballet flats and crochet-trimmed sneakers are click-to-cart keepers. Ditto for Wandler x The Outnet’s upcycled accessories capsule featuring cult styles with staying power. Think polished mules and málas in wearable colours with Dutch DNA.
Also going the distance is my signature go-to—the blazer. Boden’s floral satin print beauty gives an elegant shape and something for the eye to follow whether with their pair of coordinating pants or belted over that knitted maxi dress from COS.
Insider tip: Mark July 15th in your diaries for the first drop from Essential Antwerp’s fall collection. You’ll love their contrast waistband trousers, especially if looking for considered yet creative staples.
Sometimes, a little something can make a big difference. For me, it’s Arkfly’s handmade brooches on Etsy.com (Iris Apfel is my favourite) and Mignonne Gavigan’s decorative ear candy at Dublin’s Loulerie boutique. Always partial to a unique layering piece, I’m also eyeing up a draped neck tie top from Reiss. Wear over a slip dress with summer slides or a pair of cargos and strappy heels. In the meantime, happy shopping.
