It’s ‘International Week' in episode 5 of ‘The Great Irish Bake Off’ but things start to get messy, as baker Clare has reached her melting point and is left fleeing the tent in floods of tears.

Presented by Anna Nolan, ‘International Week’ has hit the ‘Bake Off’ tent and the bakers are extremely nervous as the semi-final is only two weeks away.

In a dramatic twist, last week’s ‘Star Baker’, 32 -year-old Limerick woman Clare, is left fleeing from the Great Irish Bake Off Tent in tears.

For this week’s Signature Challenge the contestants are tackled with baking a cake either from, or inspired by, a country of their choice.

Clare takes her chances with a ‘French Fancy Macaroon Tower’ but the judges aren’t impressed one bit, which pushed her tears.

Speaking about Clare’s ‘French Fancy Macaroon Tower’, Judge Paul Kelly commented: “I’m just not sure this is what we were looking for, for me this is not a cake, when you think of a cake you think of something you can cut into, well that’s my interpretation anyway”.

Clare added: “It’s hard to have really have put in the work, all the preparation and thought that has gone in, it feels like a waste, it’s what I really wanted to do and what I wanted to succeed in but I suppose that just didn’t happen for me today and that’s just really disappointing”.

Will Clare return for the Technical Challenge or will she be forced to leave the Great Irish Bake Off Tent for good?
