Uggie the dog, the star of Oscar-winning film The Artist, has died.

Uggie's trainer Omar von Muller announced his retirement in 2012 before penning, 'Uggie, the Artist: My Story'.

Mueller said it was a difficult decision to put Uggi down, but the last few weeks were extremley difficul for him dealing with the tumor.

As the last line of his autobiography reads, "I lick each of your faces, truly - Uggie".
