Inside Out takes top spot at Irish box office
Disney Pixar’s latest animation Inside Out opened to the number one spot at the Irish box office this weekend, taking almost €1m in its opening weekend.
Directed by Bafta and Oscar-winning filmmaker Pete Docter, who also directed Monsters, Inc. and Up, Inside Out has already taken US$550m globally, following its record-breaking debut in the US.
The animated movie, featuring the voices of Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader, also opened at the number one spot in the UK, with estimated takings of £7m.
The film, which received a 10-minute standing ovation at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, follows the inner emotions and turmoil of an 11-year-old girl as her world turns upside down when her parents decide to move across the country.
It has already won some celebrity fans including Chloe Grace Moretz, Eric Bana, Kyle MacLachlan and Larry King.
