Insurance firm stops Muamba from joining 'Dancing on Ice'

Fabrice Muamba wants to compete on 'Dancing on Ice'.

The miracle footballer - who was forced to retire after he suffered a heart attack during a game and 'died' for 78 minutes - wants to compete on the ITV skating show, but his insurance company won't let him.

He said: "I was approached to do 'Dancing On Ice', but that's more dangerous than football.

"My insurance doesn't cover that. But I'd do 'Strictly Come Dancing'. I love my salsa, so I'd be well up for that."

Fabrice, 24, has been able to enjoy a little low key football recently, when he joined a group of disabled children for a kick about in Kent for 'Children in Need'.

He said it was a great feeling to be able to be a part of a game again.

Fabrice told Radio Times magazine: "It's only the second chance I've had to kick a football since my cardiac arrest. I'm just excited to play. I've been given a second chance at life. I'm just excited to play. I've been to matches and watched others, but never played properly myself until now."

Fabrice - who hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo and came to England as a refugee aged 11, before making his professional debut for Arsenal aged 17 - says he's now looking forward to marrying his fiancee, Shauna and them settling down to raise their young son, Josh.

He added: "The big day's not long now. I'm looking forward to the stag do. I'm not getting any younger, so I want to do this now rather than later because of what happened to me. It helped put things into perspective."
