This comedian tried to break the Mayo curse

As we covered Read More: earlier today, Mayo have pulled out all the stops to help ensure a win this Sunday in Croke Park.

And top of many minds is the infamous ’Mayo curse’.

The legend goes that after the 1951 All-Ireland final, the victorious Mayo team was passing through Foxford on the journey home to Ballina and failed to pay proper respect to a funeral ceremony. The residing priest was so furious he put a curse on Mayo football to never win a subsequent All-Ireland Final while any member of that 1951 team lived.
