Fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of on our screens this Sunday, when host Siobhán McSweeney will put contestants through their paces.
The anticipation for the Irish version of the popular reality competition series has been palpable since it was announced last year.
The Irish version of the show, which has already been a smash hit in the UK, US, and the Netherlands, was officially commissioned by RTÉ in October last and Derry Girls actress McSweeney was confirmed as host in December.
The psychological game of deception, trust, and betrayal will see contestants battle it out at Slane Castle to win up to €50,000.
Speaking to Rebecca Shekleton and Brendan O’Loughlin on 98FM’s Big Breakfast earlier this week, Cork’s McSweeney couldn’t hide her excitement for the show to be aired.
“It’s the juiciest, most addictive show on TV - and now we’re bringing all that drama home to Ireland. I can’t wait to watch everyone scheming,” she said.

McSweeney promised plenty of twists, teasing: “I’d be in terrible trouble if I gave too much away… but let’s just say it’s even more dramatic off-camera than on.” Speaking about stepping into the role as host of the show, she added: “I never forget where I come from - Cork is in my bones - so to be hosting this huge show here in Ireland feels very special.”
So, whether you’re a seasoned fan of the series or will be sitting down on Sunday evening to watch it for the first time, here is everything you need to know.
Based on the Dutch version the reality competition sees strangers play the ultimate game of deception and trust with the aim of finding out who is the traitor among the faithful and winning up to €50,000.
Hidden amongst the faithful players are the traitors, who will attempt to secretly murder a player every night, without getting caught. It’s up to the others, the faithfuls, to try to detect who the traitors are, and banish them from the game, before they become their next victim.
In the Irish version, 24 contestants will descend onto Slane Castle, and will sit themselves down at the round table where host McSweeney will select who will be the traitors, with the number varying from season to season.
Each evening, the group will sit back at the round table and vote for who they think is a traitor. The banished player will then reveal to the group whether they were a traitor or faithful, and this continues up until the final.
In turn, the traitors will be planning to murder a faithful each night after the round table banishment, and can influence other players into voting off other faithfuls in the process.
What does it mean by ‘up to’ €50,000 prize money?
Players have to take part in challenges with the aim of adding as much money as possible to the jackpot. If they don’t bank all the money available, then it is lost forever.
The Irish version of will air on Sunday, August 31 and will air three times a week – Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.
The series will be available to watch on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player at 9.35pm each night.

The support series , hosted by Kevin McGahern, will air directly after at 10.35pm.
The show will feature exclusive interviews with the banished or murdered players, as well as celebrity guests, unseen footage from each episode, analysis, and reaction to the latest betrayals, mind games, and manipulations.
Players have not been revealed, so we will have to tune in on Sunday to find out who will be giving conniving glances over banquet breakfasts, whispering in corridors, and creating enough drama to make even the most loyal viewer question their instincts.
