Taylor Swift announced her new album on boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast

Taylor Swift has revealed her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be released on October 3.

Announcing the news on boyfriend Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast, she also revealed the album will feature a collaboration with pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter.

The singer's twelfth album sees her step away from longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff and lists Max Martin and Shellback as producers. Martin and Shellback previously worked on her albums Red, 1989 and Reputation.

The podcast episode, which saw over 1.3m viewers tune in live around the world, also saw her emotionally speak about reclaiming her master recordings for the first time.

"[It] changed my life," she said. "I can't believe it still, every time I think about it."

The star also talked about her "favourite parts" of the Era's tour.

"It was the bonding between generations," she said. 

"I've never played for crowds that were so committed," she added.

Asked why she decided to announce the news on the podcast, the 14-time Grammy Award-winning singer, quipped: “This podcast got me a boyfriend."
