Yenkee mixes musical talent with Cork quirkiness and a pride in the northside 

Yenkee has just released his debut album, and is already garnering plenty of attention

Yenkee, aka Graham Cooney, hails from Fairhill in Cork. 

A few years ago, songwriter Graham Cooney was finishing his late-night shift in the fruit and vegetable department of a supermarket in Cork city when he received an Instagram message from a “relatively well-known” Los Angeles rapper.

“He gave me his number and said, ‘if you’re in LA over the next couple of weeks give me a shout’. And I was literally stacking up the veg in a Supervalu,” recalls Cooney with a laugh.
