Christy Moore on the Late Late Show

A life in music

Singer Christy Moore was on the show to discuss his new album, A Terrible Beauty, and perform a few songs.

Patrick Kielty described it as a “dream” to have Moore on the show and the singer also spoke about how much he loves living in Ireland despite the difficulties the country faces.

"There's a lot of hardship in the country now and there's also a lot of wealth,” Moore said.

“Some people are doing very, very well and others aren't doing so good. And there's a lot of people in Ireland now who need more than they're getting.

“There's a lot of hatred coming up in this country, which is a bit scary. There is a lot of stuff happening that is very worrying but I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world. I just love it here. I don't want to go anywhere else for the rest of my life. I don't want to play anywhere else. I just like it here."

After a 56-year music career, Moore said he feels “very privileged to still be able to sing and still have the voice, and to have people who want to hear the songs”, adding sometimes he has to pinch himself.

Line of Duty return?

Actor Vicky McClure was in the studio and she spoke about how much she would enjoy filming in Belfast again if Line of Duty were to return.

McClure played DI Kate Fleming alongside her co-stars Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar. The trio recently reunited for a rickshaw ride around London's city centre which was filmed and posted on social media with the caption “AC12 oot and aboot”.

“We’ve said it a million times and coming back to Belfast and shooting it again would be amazing, and a dream because we love working together,” she said.

“We love how much the audience loves the show, and in the last series we shot during covid and it was hard. We didn’t go out and to be honest, when we do shoot Line of Duty we have the craic.

“It would be lovely to come back and properly enjoy it.”

Toy Show surprise

A young Late Late Toy Show fan was surprised on Friday night by a visit from the show to inform him he would be appearing on the seasonal episode next month.

Steven Martin, 10, from Monaghan was shocked when the camera crew arrived at his home.

"I don't even know what to say. I'm shocked. I'm lost for words,” he said.

When Kielty revealed he will be part of the first Toy Show county parade, representing Monaghan, the ten year old said he was “lost for words”.

When asked what he loved most about his county, he said: “The football, they are so good at it. The hurling they are not the best at, but sure look."
