After selling out New York’s Central Park and a triumphant comeback performance at Electric Picnic earlier this year, the Saw Doctors will perform their first major Cork gig in 14 years next summer in Musgrave Park.
Damien Dempsey will be their special guest in Cork.
The Saw Doctors include lead vocalist Davy Carton with Leo Moran on the electric guitar. They recently welcomed back one of their founding band members Pearse Doherty on bass guitar, vocals, penny whistle and wooden flute.Â
Their lineup features longtime members Rickie O’Neill on drums, Kieran Duddy on keyboards and accordion, and Tommy Carton providing the backing vocals, as well as Anthony Thistlethwaite on saxophone and Noelie McDonnell on guitar and backing vocals.
The Galway band are celebrating their 35th year on the road as a touring band this year and will release their new EP ‘What’D’Ya Think A That' on Friday, November 1.
The five-track EP includes their recent singles 'Man in the Moon' and 'I Love To Go Awanderin’'.
The Saw Doctors have confirmed a Cork concert in Musgrave Park / Virgin Media Park on Saturday 14th June with Special Guest Damien Dempsey.

Discovered by Mike Scott of The Waterboys on a stormy Tuesday night in the Quay’s Bar, Galway in the late 1980s, The Saw Doctors grew quickly, touring around Ireland and the UK, including a six-week stint with The Waterboys on the Fisherman’s Blues tour in 1989.
The Saw Doctors' second single, ‘I Useta Lover’ was a surprise Number One hit in Ireland in 1990, remaining top of the charts for nine weeks, going on to become the biggest-selling Irish single ever.
The Galway band’s debut album ‘If This Is Rock ’n’ Roll, I Want My Old Job Back' which includes the anthemic song ’N17’ has sold a half-a-million copies worldwide.
The band enjoyed a three-month summer tour that brought them to Belfast, Manchester, Glasgow, Munch, Brussels, Amsterdam as well as stateside shows in Boston and Chicago.
They also played two hometown gigs at the Galway Arts Festival Big Top in July.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 25 at 9am from ticketmaster.ie. Mastercard cardholders have special access to presale tickets in Ireland starting from Wednesday, October 23 at 9am until Friday, October 25 at 9am.
