Release date for Young Offenders season four revealed
A new series of hit comedy The Young Offenders is coming to BBC One on May 10
The release date for the much-anticipated return of has been revealed, with the hit show set to air on BBC One in a prime-time slot.
The Cork-based comedy series, which stars Alex Murphy and Chris Walley as lovable rogues Conor MacSweeney and Jock O’Keeffe, returns to TV screens on Friday, May 10 at 9.30pm on BBC One.
Now in its fourth season, the show will deliver the usual laughs and wholesome moments as viewers are reunited with the beloved characters after almost four years.
Series two and three of the show were filmed back-to-back in 2019. The new series follows on from the hugely successful previous series which originally aired on BBC Three, the 2018 Christmas special which saw the show move to BBC One for the first time and the box office smash feature film from 2016.
Known for its sensitive yet hilarious storylines, has proven to be popular amongst both Irish and British audiences.
Speaking on the new season, creator and showrunner Peter Foott said that while they have changed things up slightly, the heart of the show remains the same.
“We’re so excited to be bringing all of the team back for the new series of . We’ve been able to change things up a little bit this time around, but the show is still true to its roots, we wanted to give the fans the same mix of funny storylines that are also heartfelt, so it’s very much the same show with all cast returning,” he said.
“Everyone involved is delighted with series four, and we can’t wait for people to see it and be back in the world of .”
Last year, it was announced that the transmission of would not air on RTÉ until 2025. However, the show has also become a phenomenon in the UK.
In 2023, it continued to see strong viewing with 6.3M BBC iPlayer requests as those across the pond tuned in to see what Conor, Jock and the rest of crew got up to.
