The Ryan Tubridy Show will be broadcasting live on Dublin’s Q102 from Tuesday.

Former Late Late Show host and RTÉ radio broadcaster Ryan Tubridy will start a new radio show in London this week.

Tubridy did not have his contract renewed by RTÉ following the scandal surrounding secret payments made to him, which led to his departure in August.

The presenter left RTÉ after it was revealed that the station under-reported the salary paid to Tubridy and failed to disclose €345,000 of additional payments to him between 2017 and 2022.

In November, he confirmed he is to join Virgin Radio as a presenter. His new show begins this week, and here’s everything you need to know.

What day will he start?

The Ryan Tubridy Show will begin broadcasting live on Tuesday, January 2 on Virgin Radio from 10am to 1pm, with the station describing Tubridy as “our new King of Mid Mornings”.

The show will air Monday to Friday, joining Virgin Radio’s weekday on-air crew, including The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch, Jayne Middlemiss in the afternoons, and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson at drivetime.

Can I tune in from Ireland?

You can listen to Virgin Radio online or, as Tubridy will be simultaneously broadcasting on an Irish radio station, you can easily listen on your radio.

The Ryan Tubridy Show will be broadcasting live on Dublin’s Q102 from Tuesday. Listeners can tune their radio to Dublin’s Q102, log on to Q102.ie, download the Q102 app or ask their smart speaker to play Dublin’s Q102.

The Ryan Tubridy Show on Sunday will run from 10am to 12pm every Sunday. This show will broadcast across Dublin’s Q102, Cork’s 96FM, Limerick’s Live 95 and LMFM.

It is described as being a unique mix of music and presenting in a relaxed style.

The first weekend show will begin broadcasting on Sunday, January 7.

Will Tubridy be broadcasting from Ireland?

No. Tubridy will be moving to London and has mentioned looking for a new home in the city.

“New city, new station, new beginnings,” he said in a statement when news of his move was announced. He also said he is looking forward to becoming part of the London-Irish community.

What do local radio broadcasters here think about Tubridy featuring on Irish stations?

Damien Tiernan, a broadcaster with WLR FM, says Tubridy’s ‘takeover’ of Irish stations will “open up a can-of-worms which could change forever the media landscape in this country”.

Writing for the Irish Examiner in November, Tiernan said he feels “sorry for those presenters who will be losing their slots or shows because of this” as Tubridy will be claiming a two-hour window on many stations.

“It may be good for a short-term boost in ratings, but it will accelerate the trend which we have seen in Britain, which has seen local radio decimated. Many stations have been bought or replaced by Bauer or similar companies, who turn the output into a national network of simulcasted shows.”
