A Cork restaurant is looking to identify these ladies

A brand new Cork restaurant has launched a search for the ladies of Thompson Bakery in a bid to treat them to a luxury meal on their opening night.

The Glass Curtain restaurant, which is currently under construction within the walls of the former bakery on McCurtain Street, would like to acknowledge the building's history and nod to its former workers.

Founded in 1826, Thompson’s Bakery was a major employer in Cork City and has been part of the character of Cork for generations.

Posting on Facebook, the new restaurant asked its followers to help them identify the thirteen workers in the black and white photograph.

The photo, from the Irish Examiner archives, was taken 66 years ago which means the women are likely to be in their 80s or early 90s today and would have worked in the bakery in/from 1953.

Do you recognise any of them?
