Watch: Cork musician fuses trad music, dance and Milanese fashion

Cork musician and composer, Fiachra Ó Corragáin, has reimagined Irish song, Cad É Sin, in a new video that chimes with the modern millennial manifesto – being true to yourself, living by your own rules and ignoring judgements of others.

Directed by Emmet McCarthy, the video features a ghost haunting the rooms in surreal projection setups, fashion from the Milan runways by Emilio Bonadio, and dance sequences choreographed by Sam Lyons.

Speaking about the piece, Fiachra said:

I was struck by the continued relevance of the song's lyrics in today's society. In the recording studio, I included traditional elements and instrumentation such as the Irish harp, but the finished product is an unusual pop proclamation for the twenty-first century!

One of Fiachra’s recent projects involved composing the music and producing the recordings for the new theatrical show, Salómae, which ran recently in An Taibhdhearc as part of the Galway Arts Festival.
