Wedding of the Week: Lessons in love as teachers marry
Primary school teachers Marian Shine and Fiachra Keane proved to be a real class act when it came to organising their dream wedding.
Marian, from Brosna, Co Kerry, and Newcestown native Fiachra first met in the Voodoo Rooms in Cork City and got engaged over a candlelit dinner on the beach on Gili Islands, Indonesia.
They were wed recently in St Carthage’s Church, in Brosna, by Father David Gunn.
“The sun shone on our wedding day and we even had an ice-cream bicycle outside the church — we had the best fun,” said Marian.
As they travelled from Brosna to Killarney for their reception in the Great Southern Hotel, the bride and groom and their entourage stopped off at a number of scenic spots to pose for the camera of leading wedding photographer Ian Cronin.
One of the high points was a memorable photoshoot at a sun-soaked Aghadoe, overlooking Killarney’s beautiful lakes.
Also helping ensure all went to plan, and of course enjoying both the lead-up to the nuptials and the revelry, were the bride’s mother and father, Joan and Dan Shine, and the groom’s very proud parents Margo and Donie Keane.
Others playing key roles on the big day were beautiful bridesmaids Meabh Shine, Bridget O’Connor, Elaine Guiney and Aebhfinn Keane, groomsmen Carthach, Odhrán and Fionn Keane and Eddie Long and flowergirls Evelyn and Rebecca Egan.

Marian looked super-stylish in a dress sourced in Amore Mio Wedding Shop, Killaloe, Co Clare, with makeup by Nikki O’Leary of The Makeup Doll and hairstyling by Cathyanne Kelleher.
DG Videos captured the occasion on film while Tie The Knot Weddings ensured the floral arrangements were picture-perfect.
The groom and his party were debonair in suits by Simply Suits.
The newlyweds — who live in Cork — chose both South Africa and Mauritius as the destinations for their honeymoon.
